In her latest book, 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼, Candice Brathwaite the 2x Sunday Times bestselling author, TV presenter, podcaster, journalist and speaker, writes about how to unlock the life you deserve using the power of manifestation. In the book she writes about her own journey, being open about the challenge of living a life by design when she was "...𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘺 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧:

In December 2020, Georgia Harrison started criminal proceedings against her ex-partner after he sold intimate footage of her online without her consent. She waived her right to anonymity in order to raise awareness of the effects of 'revenge porn' on victims.

He was subsequently found guilty and in a statement released by Essex Police after the verdict she said, "𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

In an Instagram live following the January 6th 2021 United States Capitol attack, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Congresswoman for NY-14 who was present at the time of the attack, responded to questions asking how she was. As part of her response, she talked about her plans to seek out counselling after going through the traumatic experience and how she wasn't ashamed to say that as she recognised the importance of setting a good example as a leader.

She went on to discuss the importance of processing and healing trauma to prevent the cycles of hurt, reassuring those that were listening that it doesn't make you broken to do this. She finished by saying that, "...𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘶𝘮𝘢 𝘪𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦. 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. In a deeply moving and powerful conversation on the podcast, Changes with Annie Macmanus, Clara Amfo speaks her truth about the racism she experienced whilst working as a BBC Radio 1 DJ as well as the trauma of being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. She opens up about how her life was changed completely as a child, the shame she experienced at the time, and how, after realising the enormity of what happened to her in her late teens, she had a breakdown and sought therapy in secret.

As part of her response to the question of how she’s doing now, she said, “…𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰 𝘮𝘺 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘺, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘳, 𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐'𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺 100% 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. During an interview on 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝗱𝗮 & 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮 in October 2023, Pamela Anderson, the actress, model, and author, spoke about choosing to go make-up free during Paris Fashion Week to allow herself time to see the city instead of spending 3 hours in hair and make-up. Talking through that choice she said that she thought at the time, “...𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩? 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴? 𝘚𝘰 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥, ‘I’𝘮 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘵. 𝘐’𝘮 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦-𝘶𝘱’. She went on to say, “…𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘥. 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘺, ‘I’𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘐 𝘢𝘮, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮’”.
